Reading all the articles concerning the accused American terrorist plotter known as “Jihad Jane” reminded me of what a friend told me when he applied for a job.
On the application (and he could barely control his laughing when he saw it) was a question asking the applicant if they had ever been a member of a group dedicated to the violent overthrow of the government.
My obvious first response to that query is, “Why would anyone answer “Yes” to that question?”
Then I began to wonder that if anyone did answer “Yes”, is there another box below that question that asks the applicant to elaborate.
However, my next bit of wonder was to ponder if a person could honestly answer “No” if they were a member of a group dedicated to the peaceful overthrow of the United States government.
What would such a group look like?
If you really think about, the last group of people dedicated to the proposition of the non-violent overthrow of the United States government was this group of guys – and they’re considered heroes.
