Well, in his second outing of this young season, and even against the Philadelphia Phillies (who give the Washington Nine heartburn), Mr. Clippard pitched for 1.2 innings, gave up one hit, logged his first strikeout for 2010, and did not give up a run for the second time in a row so his ERA stays at the bottom (0.00).
However, of even greater importance is that Tyler notched his first win of the season and so he stands at 1-0.
As Zach Berman of The Washington Post wrote on-line:
…Clippard pitched effectively after a shaky start to give way to [Brian] Bruney and [Matt] Capps. None of the three relievers allowed a run in the game’s final three innings.
Way to go Tyler, keep up the good work.
Now I just need to find a store in this area that sells his shirt. Or maybe I can find his baseball card and start up my collection again.
