I’ve written before about how, due to the faltering economy, things are becoming bad over here in this part of the country called the Old Dominion.
Here is yet another example as my county’s (that would be Loudoun County) public library system will now be charging a fine for overdue books.
Yes, yes…I understand that the fine will be ten cents a day per item with a cap of five dollars of item. What I am disturbed by is the whole principle of the matter.
I live in America – I should be able to have my cake and eat it also.
Look, I live in a country engaged in two wars, but I don’t have to ration any consumer items or sacrifice anything.
I live in a country that spends massively on entitlement programs and farm subsidies and runs up a trillion dollar deficit, but I don’t have to pay an income tax rate higher than 35%.
Why the Dickens can’t I check out my Dickens (I prefer Bleak House) and keep it for as long as I want and not have to pay a thing?
