In October of 2002, we here in the greater Washington metro area lived through the fear that was the DC sniper case where ten people were senselessly killed by two people.
I cringe to think we are going back to that time as I read the news and following string of events:
October 17 – Shots fired at Marine Corps museum in Triangle (Virginia)
October 19 – Shots fired at the Pentagon
Late October 25 / early October 26 – Shots fired at Marine Corps recruiting station in Chantilly (Virginia)
October 29 – Shots fired at Marine Corps museum
November 1 – Shots fired at US Coast Guard recruiting center in Prince Wililam County (Virginia)
As I read this news about a man arrested in front of the Smithsonian Institution Air and Space Museum for suspicious behavior, I certainly hope this could mean the string of shootings might come to an end.
