Like a videotape stuck in an endless loop, please stop me if you have heard this story before.
A tape is released to the media showing a person making an outrageous statement that flies in the face of convention.
Our latest episode of Vex, Spies, and Videotape involves James O’Keefe playing gotcha with Ron Schiller, a former fund-raising executive with National Public Radio (NPR).
(Hmmm…does a sting have the same cache if the person being stung is a former anything?)
However, before everyone gets their hackles raised, let’s recall the previous episodes…
As you might recall both Williams’s and Sherrod’s comments were taken out of context. Once the entire tape was shown and all the comments were heard, the comments were not as outrageous as the initial news blurbs and tweets made them out to be.
So, before the blog-o-sphere ignites with self-appointed rage, please take a moment and review the entire videotape before casting judgement.
March 15, 2011 UPDATE
Told you so…Told you so…courtesy of Glenn Beck comes an examination of the raw footage and the tactics employed by Mr. O’Keefe’s group don’t pass the smell test.
So…uh…can anyone tell me what department NPR goes to to get their reputation back?
