With everyone in the Blog-a-verse giving their recollections about where they were a decade ago yesterday, I wanted to share this.
The following comes from a Random Journal that I was writing back in 2001. This notebook contained some ceditra entries and it also contained random opening sentences, some of which I have shared previously in this space (see here and here).
I was working on those random sentences up until Monday, September 10, 2001.
This is my entry from Wednesday, September 12, 2001.
God blinked yesterday.
Today the sun rose as it always has. The trees were the same, the sky was the same, the clouds were the same, the roads were the same, the cars were the same, but it was a vastly different world that dawned.
There are three questions that hang in the air.
Despite all the destruction, all the devastation, all the pain, all the grief, all the death, all the shock, all the fear, all the panic, and all the hell…
…somewhere, someone is celebrating for batting three for four.
I would keep writing down my thoughts about the post-9/11 world, which included this previously posted item, until January 8, 2002.
Depending on mood and appropriateness, I may share more of my thoughts about what happened a decade ago as they happened.
