I’m rehashing an old trick from two years ago, but this time I’m upping the base by one.
Why is today like Friday?
Today’s date is Januray 10, 2012.
If you write that date out in MMDDYY format, it becomes 011012.
The trinary number (or Base 3 if you like that sort of notation) of 011012 is equivalent to the number 113 in decimal (or Base 10) notiation.
The digits 113 can have a slash (techincally called a virgule) inserted between the “1”s to make 1/13.
1/13, if using the MMDD date format, is equal to January 13.
In 2012, January 13th is this Friday.
Oooh…spooky. Friday the 13th.
